An Insider Threat is a person within an organization that knowingly or unknowingly becomes a part of a cyber attack on the organization's assets. Why are Insider Threats dangerous? Since they are inside the premises of the organization they know key details about the IT infrastructure. Not to forget, they can elevate their access privileges or steal access information like passwords and PIN numbers in order to perform the crime. The sad fact is that traditional cyber security measures like firewall, IDS, etc. are useless in front of a insider threat.
